The goblet squat holds a single kettlebell or dumbbell at the chest. The front load works as a counterweight, so it's easy to stay upright and reach full depth — which makes it the best way to learn the squat pattern and a solid leg exercise in its own right.

Secondary muscles
Stand holding a light kettlebell by the horns close to your chest. This will be your starting position.
Squat down between your legs until your hamstrings are on your calves. Keep your chest and head up and your back straight.
At the bottom position, pause and use your elbows to push your knees out. Return to the starting position, and repeat for 10-20 repetitions.
3–4 sets of 8–15 reps. Once the heaviest dumbbell or kettlebell gets easy, move on to barbell squats or slow down the tempo.
